There is a lot of useful practical information about how to use Instagram in this book and for that reason I like it - 4 stars. I would have rated it a 5 and loved it if it did not contain erroneous legal information pertaining to the FTC in the USA and by being a bit pie in the sky. (I will provide details later.) Also I have taken a workshop on using Instagram for your business and it taught a LOT LESS than this book so for the price I recommend buying this book to learn from as a couple of the main things I learned in the workshop were explained better in more detail in INSTASTYLE.Certain people will feel this book will tell them all they need to know to become a new Instagran INFLUENCER who works seven days a week creating content and being provided free travel accommodations, meals, and clothing. The book's author is an Influencer who focuses on "lifestyle" which for her is fashion, travel, and eating in restaurants, she goes by the name Tezza and looks like a professional model, is six feet tall, has beautiful face and hair, and has a lean body that looks great in fashion clothes.There are short four page sections to tell how some other Instagram Influencers run their account, their main focus is in each of these categories: travel, food photographed at home, beauty, family (of toddlers and babies), and "health and fitness" by a mother of young children, and interior design and one who does only "flat lays" of products.If you know nothing about Instgram, nothing about photography basics, and nothing about filters and analytics then this book tells a lot that will educate you. I applaud all this information. There a ton of full color photos throughout the book and the paper is thick and nice. This is a DK publication, if you are familiar with their high quality photograph-filled books, this is the same great quality.There are some contradictions and confusing points. The book starts off saying to have your Instgram account show the life you are actually living. On the next page (61) Tezza states she works seven days a week and is constantly brainstorming to find new ideas of things to do in order to create new content. Later it says to find locations good for photo shoots then go do the photo shoot, to me that is not photographing your life as you live it, it is intentionall doing things to get a photo, those are two very different things, one is an authentic life experience being documented and the other is done only for the photo to be published. It is also recommended that we look for travel to do in order to keep our content fresh and active. One of the highlighted Instagrammers says her three year old has already traveled to 25 counties. There is a mention of free hotel lodging in five star hotels. Yet there is not much said about how to achieve these things and readers may think that everyone can make a full-time living from being an Influencer. Free clothes and makeup are fun but cash money is needed to pay the electricity bill (and everything else for basic survival).It is recommended to hire professional photographers to do the photo shoots of things such as wearing an outfit while walking on a city street or to shoot you driving in a convertible on a cliff hugging road. On page 115 it says the Influencer uses a certain camera, I looked it up online and saw the retail is $6K.There is no financial information here to keep it real, not every woman who wants to wear trendy outfits, eat in expensive restaurants, and travel the world is going to be able to afford a camera like that or to hire a professional photographer or to even buy these outfits or pay for those meals. The book lacks information about which parts of what is shown in the Instagram photos was given for free versus paid for. The only financial information about what an Influencer may get paid is on page 174 where it says charge 1% of your follower count per post or $100 for every 10K followers you have.I was bothered by the incorrect legal advice given on page 175 regarding the United States of America's FTC (Federal Trade Commission). In a discussion of how to disclose that the item or service was paid for or the product was given in exchange for a post, Tezza wrote that she is not a lawyer but the advice she gives is incorrect which I verified by a two second Internet search in which I found the FTC document "The FTC's Endorsement Guides: What People Are Asking". If you want accurate info go read that online document. The hashtag idea Tezza suggests is not allowed per the clear information given in the FTC document. There must be a clear statement visible to the viewer without clicking to view more with the "more" button. (Note that this book was received by me as part of the Amazon Vine reviewer program which is stated by Amazon right at the top of this review to meet the FTC's requirement. I was not paid to write this review or to post about it anywhere else on the Internet and am allowed to be honest in my review.)The rest of the book is useful although people wanting to focus on content in other areas will have to be creative about their own direction and topics. For example if you want to post about food you make you would use your imagination and might choose to show cooking in process photos, finished foods, cookbooks you are reading, et cetera. If you are an artist you would show ideas, works in process, finished projects and art show or sales of your artwork posts. Love Tezza and I pre-ordered it as soon as it was released.The cover resembles an instagram feed and the aesthetic is perfect so you can use it as table decor.The negatives to the book are that it is basic and the information vague. I just think after reading so many free articles online and developing the basic knowledge of social media, that everything with in the book seemed pretty standard to the articles.For instance, when you flip through the book, imagine a children's book with little writing and loads of pictures. I was expecting in depth social media gold, but instead found a pretty layout of information I already knew.However, if you are new to social media or have little knowledge on the matter, I recommend the book to help set you on a path.Overall, I enjoy having book and it's nice to have everything all in one place, but I don't think it is a necessity. Non-expensive table decor as well!

I loved this book and read every single word of it. I was actually taking a very expensive Instagram course at the same time I started this book, and I found more information in this book than in the course. Amazing. She actually gives real-life tips that you can use NOW to work on perfecting your photography, growing your Instagram, and becoming a brand. I definitely recommend this book if you are just getting started on Instagram and want to grow your brand.

Three stars because most of it is exactly like you’d expect. Photos from her Instagram and a description of why she does it the way she does. Does have useful tips for those new to the Instagram scene. Not practical for those who do not use Instagram for making a living. Influencers guide to Instagram.

The book is clearly written and allows you to gain a better perspective as to how the social media world works and how you can better your own platform. The advise given is not just limited to Instagram but can also be applied to general photography (how to take pictures, compositions and angles etc.) I find that it's not a book you read from front to back but a book you can keep going back to for help. I'd recommend it

I don't know why such bad reviews but I loved this book. Read it cover to cover. Very informative to someone who is a beginner. It makes me excited about what I'm about to embark on. Great stuff!
