Interesting to me because my uncle Mike was in A Company, 13th Engineers (Combat), that stopped the big Banzai charge. The book calls them the 50th Engineers, confusing. The individual stories at the end were great.
I haven't read a book that truly was all about personal experiences of individual men. This book showed the up cose side of their hardships in a forlorn battlefield. Anyone who is into WWII needs to read this one.
Since Attu wasn'exactly a popular battle it would be difficult to make very exciting. Author did a good job mixing vignettes and narrative to make it flow. A good American read!
The true story of the invasion of the United States is unheard of in 2019. I recommend this book to a younger audience.

As the title states, it's told by the men that were there. Very compelling. A must read for those interested in WW2 history.
