If you are into post-apocalyptic science fiction, this is a third book in a marvelous series. Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. For anyone who read Partners and Partners Book Two, this was a wonderful addition to the story line. For those who haven’t read the first two books, I highly recommend it. There are many themes and references in this part of the story that become much clearer and more relevant with the background from the previous books. It’s not a happy story, and not really a love story, though the love between the two main characters plays a major roll. It is a continuation of humanity’s struggle to survive after ninety percent of the human race has been wiped out by a natural disaster, and most of the earth’s land mass is under water. There are space stations with science and technology that continue to provide essentials to the people left on earth. But humans being humans, those remaining have divided into political factions who still trying to take from the other side or wipe them out.Jess, one of the two main characters, recognizes that she is a high-functioning sociopath, honed into a deadly killing machine. Yet, she allows her partner, Dev, to gently guide her beyond the confines of that definition. Dev is a biologic alternative, a subservient race created on the space station from genetically altered human eggs, designed to serve the remaining population. They are regarded as not human and are treated as a slave race to do the jobs that the remaining people don’t want to do.Through the innocent eyes of her bio-alt work partner, Jess begins to change. Though she has no word for her feelings, she would kill or die for Dev, as Dev would for her. This story continues to build on their relationship. There is humor throughout, mostly around the Dev character as she tries to understand the slang and strange customs of her “downside” workmates. This story also provides a much deeper understanding of why Jess is the way she is.The first two books were brilliant in my estimation, but they left me with a lot of questions, and the hope that the saga would continue. This third book is a wonderful addition. I don’t want to say it is the conclusion to the story, though it could be. It did put enough of a cap on things to leave a reader satisfied. But it also left enough of an opening for another book, which again, I hope there will be. This is a vibrant, if dark world, populated by interesting and well-developed characters. It has non-stop action, which can be rather violent, if your squeamish about that, but the humor often has me laughing out loud. It is a wonderful series to get immersed in.

I stumbled upon this series fairly recently. After devouring the first two books, I was pleasantly surprised to see the third book was about to be released. "Of Sea and Stars" definitely delivers and fans of the series will not be disappointed. It expands the world beyond the first two books, introduces some fun new characters and endears you to the existing ones even more. The plot kept me guessing and I laughed out loud several times at the dialog between Dev and... well, just about anybody. On a certain level, I would have liked a little more focus on Jess and Dev's relationship in the first half of the book. That said, Dev's other relationships and place in the outside world (beyond Jess) did need to expand (*SPOILER ALERT* and there is some "practicing of sex" later in the book *END SPOILER*) so I won't begrudge the author for keeping the story more focused on the larger themes. Overall, a "most optimal" read and I look forward to the next book!

This sequel to "Partners" is an action- packed ride from air, land, sea, and space. The characters are well-developed and true to themselves. I loved every moment of it and hated to see it end.The only suboptimal things about this book are the errors in punctuation and formatting. If these were fixed, I would give this book a solid 5 stars.

Melissa Good struck gold again!!! Wonderful story with plenty of action, twists, and turns to keep you entertained. Continued character development of Dev and Jess makes this book a wonderful read. I would suggest you read books 1 and 2 of this series to truly enjoy all the nuances of characters and plot.

I'm a rather picky reader at times, so it can be really difficult for me to find a book I actually want to read. This little series was fantastic, though. I was glued from page one, and I wish it wasn't over. I fell in love with these characters who were thrown together in a post-apocalyptic world unlike any other that I have personally read about. I absolutely loved it all.

I loved this book just as much as the first two, maybe even more because we got to see the evolution of Dev. I truly hope that this is not the last in the series. That would be suboptimal. ;)

MSGgood's Partner series is up there with some of the best sci-fi stories. It hooks you in and keeps you reading. You want to go from one book to the other in this triology. I hope it's not the end of her sci-fi writing. The world she created is intriguing.

The great story but really talk to you in and takes you to a new world. I could read this over and over, and I hope to see more of Jess Drake and Dev!
